Our Story

Jerts Consulting was founded with a simple premise: businesses need custom tools that fit their unique requirements, not off-the-shelf software that forces them to change how they work.

For 19 years, that's exactly what we've delivered. Starting with Excel and VBA, we built hundreds of custom business tools across many industries — from energy companies and financial institutions to school boards and government agencies.

As technology has evolved, so has our toolkit. Today we combine deep Excel/VBA expertise with modern AI capabilities to build even more powerful solutions. The mission hasn't changed: build practical, reliable tools that solve real business problems and save our clients time.

Who is Jerts?

Jerts Consulting Inc. is a specialist practice led by its principal consultant. On this site, "we" means the company — the principal consultant plus a network of trusted collaborators brought in when a project calls for it. Clients always work directly with the principal; collaborators show up when there's specialist work to support (design, a second set of hands on implementation, niche domain expertise) and don't stay longer than needed.

Who are our clients?

Our clients range from large enterprises to individual entrepreneurs. We've worked with one of Canada's largest mining firms, one of Canada's biggest food processors, a retail giant in office supplies, the Government of Ontario, health-services consulting firms, financial institutions, insurance companies, and small startups. We work across all industries — whatever your business does, we've likely solved a similar problem before.

Where are we based?

We're headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Remote collaboration is our standard operating model — we've delivered projects across Canada, the USA, and to clients in Asia and Europe.

Why the name "Jerts"… isn't it a bit close to "jerks"?

"Jerts" is a word-form of our founder's initials and a childhood nickname given to him by a favourite uncle — the entrepreneur of the family. It is a bit close to "jerks", so not necessarily a highly sought-after name — which made it relatively easy for us to secure the domain, corporate name, and trademarks when the company was founded.
